KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has urged Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda to facilitate the formation of a new government by Wednesday.

According to UML General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali, the party Secretariat meeting, held in central office Chyasal, Lalitpur on Tuesday, decided to ask the Prime Minister to vacate the seat and make room for the new government under UML leadership.

“As per the agreement between the UML and Nepali Congress (NC), a decision has been made to call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to pave the way for the formation of a government under Article 76 (2) of the Constitution by Wednesday,” he stated.

He mentioned that although the agreement is currently between the NC and the UML, efforts will be made to form a government of national consensus.

“An understanding has been reached between NC and UML. The meeting has decided to welcome the agreement to form a government of national consensus under the leadership of KP Sharma Oli,” he said, adding, “All political parties are called upon to participate in the consensus government to contribute to political stability. The Prime Minister is urged to facilitate this process.”

The UML has invited other parties to join in making the new government, under Chairman Oli’s leadership as per the agreement with NC, a government of national consensus.

On Monday night, NC and UML signed an agreement to form a new government.

The agreement includes rotating the leadership of the government.

Initially, Oli will serve as Prime Minister, followed by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
