KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center has concluded that the formation of a new coalition between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML is unnatural and unusual.

During a meeting of Maoist Center’s officials at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday, the party decided that the sudden creation of a new coalition was both unnatural and inappropriate, and resolved that the Prime Minister would not resign.

Maoist Center Secretary Devendra Poudel stated that even if any party withdraws its support, there is still a one-month period to seek a vote of confidence, so there is no immediate need for the Prime Minister to resign.

Poudel accused UML Chairman KP Oli of saying one thing to the Prime Minister while holding separate discussions with the Congress.

He emphasized that the party would move forward by facing Parliament and seeking a vote of confidence, and for this, discussions would be held with the Congress, UML, and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) among others.

He claimed that the UML’s actions were conspiratorial and that they would oppose them.

Secretary Poudel added that the Maoist Center would take the initiative to institutionalize democracy.

He expressed concern that the recent developments might be an attempt to reverse the changes brought about by the constitution, highlighting the need to understand the ongoing situation.
