Bibaha Panchami festival begins in Janakpur



JANAKPURDHAM: The week-long Sitaram Bibaha Panchami Festival has officially commenced in Janakpurdham, Dhanusha.

This annual festival is celebrated to commemorate the marriage of Lord Ram and the ideal woman, Sita, in the Treta Yuga.

Today marks the first day of the Sitaram Bibaha Panchami Festival, featuring a city visit program.

The second day will showcase a flower garden Leela, followed by a Dhanush Yagya on Tuesday, Tilakotsav on Wednesday.

The festival will also include the Ram Sita Swayamvar and a wedding ceremony.

On the final day, the festival will conclude with the farewell of the saints who came from Ayodhya as Janti, after performing Ramkaleva.

During the city visit, two children will be paraded around the Janaki Temple as symbolic representations of Lord Ram and Laxman, according to Ramroshan Das Vaishnav, co-chairman of the Janaki Temple.

The Bihaha Panchami festival is an annual tradition in Janakpurdham, commemorating the union of Lord Rama and Sita, the daughter of King Janak, in the Treta Yuga.

The festival is not only celebrated by Hindus but also sees participation from Buddhists, Sikhs, and Christians.
