KATHMANDU: A Cabinet meeting has begun at Singha Durbar in Kathmandu.

The meeting commenced at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.

Although Monday’s Cabinet session is being held as per the regular schedule, the meeting is likely to make some key decisions, including the appointment of a Chief Secretary.

A Minister shared under anonymity that the name of Acting Chief Secretary Liladevi Gadtaula is most likely to be proposed for the post of Chief Secretary.

After Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal was suspended due to corruption allegations filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Gadtaula, the senior-most secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister, was assigned the responsibility of Acting Chief Secretary.

As hinted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane in the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, the Cabinet is likely to decide to form a task force to initiate the investigation of major corruption cases.
