BHAKTAPUR: Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, Bhagawati Chaudhary, announced that the government is introducing a policy requiring offspring to provide at least 10% of their income to their parents.

Speaking at the 20th establishment anniversary of the Community Development and Service Centre and the Community Police Service Centre in Gatthaghar on Saturday, Minister Chaudhary stated that the policy will be implemented following the amendment of the Senior Citizens Act and Regulations.

She explained that the policy aims to address the neglect many senior citizens face from their children.

The Minister emphasized that both sons and daughters would be required to contribute at least 10% of their income, regardless of whether it is generated from formal or informal sectors.

Minister Chaudhary noted that this policy would become mandatory once the related bill is endorsed by the parliament.
