NSU protests in front of Parliament demanding justice for Shalini’s murder



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Student Union (NSU) staged a demonstration in front of the Parliament building in Kathmandu on Friday, demanding justice for Shalin Pokhrel, who was allegedly killed after rape.

During the demonstration, protesters urged for strict legal action against the culprits and demanded justice for the victim.

In the course of the protest, the police detained several NSU leaders, as informed by the central member of the Union, Sunil Sharma.

According to him, the police arrested Basudev Neupane from Kailali, Bibek Lamichhane from Bhaktapur, Pooja Phuyal from Solukhumbu, Sudip Dhungana and Mohan Kalathoki from Bhaktapur Multiple Campus, Santosh Acharya and Mohammad Aftab Nepali from Pokhara University.

NSU demanded instant release of the arrested.

Subhash Paudel, another leader of the Nepal Student Union, informed that they would intensify their protest nationwide until immediate arrest and stringent legal actions are taken against the perpetrators of Shalin’s rape and murder.

The Nepal Student Union is also preparing for demonstrations across the country.

Shalin Pokhrel, who was a 13-year-old student studying in Ekta Shishu Niketan,Ratnagar, Chitwan, was allegedly raped and murdered.
