Constitutional Council meeting taking place tomorrow

Meeting expected to recommend next Chief Justice



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Constitutional Council (CC) is taking place tomorrow (Tuesday).

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has scheduled a meeting of the CC for Tuesday.

According to sources in Prime Minister Dahal’s secretariat, the Constitutional Council meeting is expected to recommend the next Chief Justice of the country, as the incumbent Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki is set to retire on Friday.

Earlier, on Sunday morning, Prime Minister Dahal held consultations with the main opposition party CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, and coalition partner Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to finalize the date for the Constitutional Council meeting.

The meeting of the Constitutional Council is scheduled for 4 pm on Tuesday.
