Machhindra beats Satdobato by 3-1, climbs to second place



KATHMANDU: Machhindra Football Club has climbed to the second position in Martyr’s Memorial A Division League undergoing in the capital.

In the 23rd-round match of the league on Wednesday, Satdobato Youth Club managed to reduce the points gap with the top-ranked Church Boys United by defeating Satdobato.

Machhindra defeated Satdobato by 3-1 in the match played at ANFA Complex in Satdobato. Foreign player Afeez Olawale scored a hat-trick to give Machhindra a win.

Similarly, the only goal for Satdobato was scored by Jordan Pun Magar.

In the 16th minute of the game, Afeez Olawale gave Machhindra the lead. He scored a header from Diwakar Chaudhary’s pass.

Then Machhindra doubled the lead in the last minute of extra time in the first half.

Olawale, who scored the first goal for Machhindra, went on to score the second goal. He scored from a pass provided by Andresh Niya near the center line.

Machhindra scored two goals in the first half and conceded one more goal in the second half. In the 56th minute of the game, Olawale completed his hat-trick by scoring for Machhindra. He scored a pass from Yuta Suzuki.

In the 83rd minute of the match, Machhindra missed another goal opportunity. For it, Bimal Ghartimar’s free kick hit the crossbar from outside the box.

Then in the 84th minute of the game, Satdobato returned a goal. Jordan Pun Magar scored for him. He scored a pass from Shushil Lama.

With the win, Machhindra has risen to second place with 39 points from 23 games. Church Boys United , who are at the top of the league, have 41 points from the same game. The defeated Satdobato is in fifth place with 29 points from the same match.
