Government decides to provide Rs 1 million compensation for families of Balkumari incident victims

Free treatments to those injured in the clash



KATHMANDU: In response to the tragic events at Balkumari on Friday, a Cabinet meeting held today decided to provide compensation of Rs one million each to the families of two youths killed during the clash.

The victims, 22-year-old Birendra Shah from Doti and 23-year-old Sujan Rawat from Dailekh, lost their lives in a clash between protesting students of ESP and security personnel.

Likewise, the government has also decided to provide free treatments to those injured in the incident.

The incident unfolded as students staged protests, demanding inclusion in EPS Korean language exams, and subsequently, a vehicle belonging to Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala was set on fire.

The mobilization of security personnel resulted in a clash in which two youths tragically lost their lives.
