Govt forms committee to investigate Nepali involvement in Russian Army



KATHMANDU: The government has taken proactive measures by forming a committee to delve into the participation of Nepali citizens in the Russian army, currently engaged in the conflict with Ukraine.

The Ministry of Labor has spearheaded this initiative, appointing a three-member committee led by Deepak Dhakal, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry.

In the wake of recent revelations that three Nepali citizens lost their lives in the Russia-Ukraine war, the government is keen to assess the extent of Nepali involvement in the Russian military.

An official from the Ministry shared that the committee’s primary objective is to thoroughly investigate and compile a comprehensive report containing recommendations.

The committee is mandated to complete its study within a 15-day timeframe, emphasizing the urgency and significance of understanding the role of Nepali citizens within the Russian army amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions.
