Nepal-China agree to open all checkpoints: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said an understanding was reached between Nepal and China to open all checkpoints that were in operation before the coronavirus pandemic.

Talking to media persons upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport today after completing his official visit to China, PM Dahal shared that both Nepal and China had agreed to bring the checkpoints used locally in the northern parts into operation after completing technical and necessary preparations.

He further mentioned that the Chinese government had expressed commitment to provide grants to systematize some checkpoints.

Similarly, significant discussion was held regarding regular operation of Pokhara Regional International Airport, added PM Dahal. Stating that some preparations have to be carried out internally, the Prime Minister viewed that two-way air flights would be operated easily from Chengdu, China.

He stressed that discussion was also held on the issue of conducting air service from other cities of China regularly.

On the occasion, he thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka for addressing the demands of teachers and health workers from the position of acting Prime Minister at a time when he was out of the country.
