KATHMANDU: There has been a surge in currency in circulation (CIC) in the market. As per the end of Mangsir (December 16), a total of NPR 660 billion cash flow has been recorded.
This marks an increase from the previous cash flow of NPR 350 billion recorded until the end of Ashad (July 16) of the last fiscal year. Until Ashad 31 (July 16), 2080, the cash flow in the market stood at only NPR 625 billion.
The Central Bank has attributed this rise in market cash flow primarily to major festivals like Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath.
The bank highlights that with increased consumer markets, purchases, sales, and consumption, the circulation of cash in the market has amplified.
