Nepal a leading country in tiger conservation: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said that Nepal has succeeded in establishing its identity as the leading country in the world in the conservation of tigers and other rare wild animal species.

In a message given on the occasion of the Global Tiger Day being observed today, PM Dahal congratulated all for achieving the target of doubling the number of tigers by 2022 prior to the set deadline.

DPM Shrestha vows unyielding justice, Says corruption knows no party or family bonds

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has warned that anyone involved in corruption, fraud, and irregularity would be booked irrespective of the party and family he/she belongs to.

Addressing a program here today, DPM Shrestha reiterated that anyone from any political party, family, or position but involved in corruption would not be left scot-free.

Good governance is the first priority and prerequisite of the present government, he said, adding that prosperity can not take a pace in the absence of good governance.

Koshi govt. will be formed under Thapa’s leadership: Dr Koirala

Dr. Shekhar Koirala, a central member of the Nepali Congress (NC), expressed his confidence that the Koshi province government would be formed under the leadership of Uddhab Thapa.

Dr. Koirala stated that a coalition government would be established in the Koshi province, with Thapa at the helm, within a week. He acknowledged that previous interferences in government formation by speakers were regrettable mistakes, and he was pleased to see his prediction come true now. As a democratic party, the NC aimed to educate other political parties on such matters.

Tiger conservation significant for tourism promotion: President Paudel

President Ram Chandra Paudel has said tiger conservation would be significant for tourism promotion and economic development of Nepal.

In a message today on the occasion of Global Tiger Day, 2023, President Paudel called on the concerned authorities, public, and conservationists to involve in the sustainable management of tiger conservation by considering the fact.

KMC intensifies monitoring to enforce plastic bag ban

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is taking steps to enforce its campaign against the usage of plastic bags below 40 microns.

Since its launch on July 17, the KMC is determined to ensure the success of this initiative through regular monitoring.

To oversee the effective implementation of the campaign, five joint teams consisting of representatives from the KMC Environment Department and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Police Force will be assigned for monitoring duties.

Chief of KMC Environment Department, Rabin Man Shrestha, confirmed this decision.

The monitoring teams will assess the weight of plastic bags using a micrometer, and necessary actions will be taken against violators using plastic bags and products below 40 microns.
