Govt projects 2.16 percent economic growth in FY 2023/24

KATHMANDU: The government has estimated that the economic growth rate of the coming fiscal year will be only 2.16 percent.

Finance Minister Prakasharan Mahat announced it while presenting the budget for the financial year 2080/81 at the joint meeting of the Federal Parliament on Monday.

“It has been estimated that economic growth will be minimal due to the slowdown in the world economy and internal reasons,” he said.

Finance Minister pointed out the war between Ukraine and Russia, high-interest rates, government capital expenditure, and a decrease in aggregate demand as the factors adversely impacting the economy struggling to revive after COVID-19.
