Govt brings budget of NRs 17 trillion 51 billion 310 million for FY 2023/24

The government today brought a budget of NRs 17 trillion 51 billion 310 million for the fiscal year 2023-24. This is less than the budget of the current fiscal year 2079/80. Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat unveiled the budget on Monday.Out of the total budget, Rs 11 trillion 41 billion 780 million (65.20 percent) has been allocated as the operating budget.

Government unveils fiscal budget today

Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat is set to unveil the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2023/24 in a joint session of the Federal Parliament today. The budget for the next fiscal year is Rs. 1,688 billion.

Conspiracies against the system will be foiled: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said that the conspiracies against the system will be foiled, and urged all to celebrate Republic Day with great zeal acknowledging its significance and importance. The Prime Minister emphasized the adoption of federalism, inclusion, and proportional representation to address the unique structural and geographical characteristics of Nepali society.

Resham Chaudhary released from jail

Resham Chaudhary, the “mastermind” behind the 2015 Tikapur massacre, was released from jail today. As per the recommendation of Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government, President Ram Chandra Poudel pardoned the rest of his sentence on Sunday and he was released today.

NC General Secy Thapa lambasts Resham Chaudhary’s amnesty

Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has criticized the government’s amnesty to Nagarik Unmukti Party patron Reshammalal Chaudhary. Addressing the regional conference of NC Lalitpur 2, leader Thapa compared the amnesty with the one granted under autocratic monarchial system and said that such decisions are against the spirit of republic state.

President Paudel attends Republic Day celebrations ceremony

President Ram Chandra Paudel attended a special ceremony held at the Nepal Army Pavilion, Tundhikhel on the occasion of the 16th Republic Day today. On the occasion, aerial shower of flower petals and display of banner scribing ‘Republic Day, 2080’ was undertaken.

Unity in diversity is Nepal’s unique identity: VP Yadav

Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav said unity in diversity is Nepal’s unique national identity. Issuing a statement on the occasion of 16th Republic Day today, he said the day should be taken as an opportunity to express commitment to safeguard constitution, federal democratic republican system, sovereignty proportional inclusiveness and socialism.”

The 16th Republic Day was marked nationwide today in a fanfare manner by organizing several programs. The day has been observed for the past one-and-a-half decade as epochal achievement of the arduous struggle and devotion of the Nepali people.

Development of democracy possible within a democracy: PM Dahal

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the development of democracy is possible within a democracy.  In a message of best wishes today on the occasion of the Republic Day today, Prime Minister Dahal has said that the present government is working to institutionalize the political changes achieved through great struggle and sacrifices and transforming the country from a least developed to a developing and developed one.

Malaysia beat Nepal by 5 wickets

The Nepali women’s cricket team performed poorly to be beaten by Malaysia in the first match of the five-match T20 series against Malaysia. Today, the home team Malaysia dominated Nepal and won by 5 wickets. Batting first in the first match in Malaysia, Nepal was bowled out for 50 runs in 16.5 overs.

Govt cancels all types of incentives

The government has cancelled all types of incentives. Presenting the fical budget 2023-24 on Monday, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said that all kinds of allowances have been canceled. Similarly, the government has also decided to discourage the purchase of vehicles for government use. Finance Minister Mahat also said that all unnecessary expenses will be minimized.

Govt allocates Rs 1.25 billion for startup promotion

KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 1.25 billion for startup promotion for the next financial year 2023-24. Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the government has allocated Rs 1.25 billion for the promotion of startups. The program has been running since the current fiscal year. The government has urged applications for startup entrepreneurs.
