Police nab three involved in producing fake branded alcohol



KATHMANDU: The Valley Crime Investigation Office of Nepal Police has nabbed three liquor store owners holding them responsible in the production and sale of alcohol with fraud labels of renowned brands.

According to police sources, the police arrested Niraj Upreti of Dolakha, the owner of a liquor store called Next Test Liquor in Kupandol, Lalitpur, Dharmi Paudel of Syangja, the owner of ST Liquor Store in Mitranagar, Gongbu, and Ganesh Bahadur Ranamagar, a native of Sindhuli, and resident of Tikathli, Lalitpur.

The police made the arrested people public on Sunday.

At the press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Manoj KC briefed that the police seized counterfeit liquor and chemicals used for making liquor, empty bottles of various local and foreign brands of liquor, stickers used for excise duties and labeling and packaging machines and other materials from the factory.

The police also recovered 6 bottles of fake Golden Oak, 48 bottles of 8848 Vodka, 420 bottles of Mughlan Vodka, 30 bottles of 2020 Apple Cider, 92 bottles of Khukuri Rum and 132 bottles of Ruslan Vodka and some bottles of double black, and red labels.

The police raided the Next Test liquor store at Kupandol in Lalitpur. From there, the police found fake production of liquor called Khukuri Rum. After that, the police got information that fake liquor was being produced in Tikathali and swooped a store there as well.
