US Under-Secretary of State Nuland arrives in Kathmandu

The United States Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland has arrived in Kathmandu Sunday evening in course of her two-day visit. During her visit, Undersecretary Huland would hold high-level political meetings and also observe some cultural heritage sites of the country. Under Secretary Nuland will engage with the Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda-led government on the broad agenda of the U.S. partnership with Nepal.

PM Dahal and UML Oli hold talks

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and CPM-UML Chairman KP Oli held talks on the current political developments, including the election of President. Sources said Prachanda and Oli also discussed whether to reappoint Rabi Lamichhane as the Home Minister.

Rabi Lamchhane acquires Nepali citizenship again

Rabi Lamichhane, former Home Minister, has acquired Nepali citizenship from District Administration Office, Kathmandu on Sunday. Although Lamichhane had renounced his American citizenship, he had not completed the process to regain his Nepali citizenship.

Rabi Lamichhane elected RSP Chairman

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has given the responsibility of the paryt Chairman to Rabi Lamichhane. A meeting of the party’s central committee held soon after Lamichhane acwuired Nepali citizenship on Sunday decided to give the responsibility of party Chair yet again.

12 companies blacklisted

The Public Procurement Monitoring Office under the Prime Minister’s Office has blacklisted 12 builders and suppliers. Those blacklisted builders and suppliers will not be allowed to participate in any procurement of public organizations during the blacklisted period.

NC leader Khadka demands announcement of President’s election date

Purna Bahadur Khadka, Vice President of Nepali Congress (NC), has urged the government and the Election Commission to announce the date of the President’s election. Khadka said that the He election should be held before March 12.

Man attempts self-immolation in Pokhara

A person has made an attempt at self-immolation in Pokhara. A man living in rented apartment at Kahunkhola, Pokhara-13 had attempted to kill self- setting fire on his body on Sunday. A woman who went for his rescue was also injured in the process. Both were rescued this afternoon, Information Officer at the District Police Office Kaski, Subas Timilsina, said.

Madhes Province records 40 per cent of country’s total leprosy cases

The 70th World Leprosy Day is being marked today by organizing different programs under the theme of “Act Now, End Leprosy”. The World Leprosy Day is observed on the last Sunday of January every year. Since 1954, this day is being observed all around the world in order to raise awareness about leprosy.

RSP to retain its claim on Home Ministry

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has clarified that it would retain its claim on Ministry of Home Affairs. Earlier, RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane had resigned from the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister following the Supreme Court’s decision, on Friday, to revoke his status as lawmaker.

NEPSE declines by 14.68 points Sunday

On Sunday, the first trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by 14.68 points. The stock market index NEPSE closed at 2168.53 points as it fell by 0.67 percent today. The day had the turnover over Rs. 3.17 billion from the 82 lakh 76 thousand 751 shares transactions.
