KATHMANDU: After evading authorities for two and a half years following his defiance of a Patan High Court order, Sayus Shrestha, one of the accused in the assault on Tribhuvan University Vice-Professor Prem Chalaune, has been apprehended by the police in Ratopul today.

Two out of the seven members of the Nepal Students Union implicated in the Chalaune attack had been on the run.

The Patan High Court had mandated that they each post a bond of Rs 500,000 and provide an interim compensation of Rs one lakh.

An arrest warrant had been issued by the district court two years ago to enforce Patan’s directive.

Sources indicate that Shrestha, a resident of Gauradaha in Jhapa, was apprehended today by the police from Ratopul of Kathmandu.
