President Paudel grants amnesty to 482 prisoners, including Resham Chaudhary

President Ram Chandra Paudel has granted amnesty to 482 prisoners, including Resham Chaudhary, on the occasion of Republic Day.The spokesperson of the President’s Office, Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai, issued a statement informing that the prison sentences of 482 prisoners, including Resham Chaudhary, have been waived.

Police nab eight with sandalwood oil worth Rs 20 million

Police have arrested eight people on the charge of the illegal trade of sandalwood oil. According to SP Rabindra Regmi, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested eight people along with red sanders oil worth about 2 crores. Police received information that 80 liters of blood sandalwood oil was being illegally traded in Chuchepati, Kathmandu at the rate of 205 thousand rupees per liter.

Federal Parliament starts deliberations on report

A joint session of the Federal Parliament today began clause-wise deliberations on the draft report (with amendments) of the Business Operations Regulations of the Joint Committee of the Federal Parliament-2080 BS. Prior to that, Regulations Draft Committee President Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan proposed the meeting to begin clause-wise deliberations on the report and the proposal was accepted unanimously.

Cabinet recommends amnesty to Resham Chaudhary

The government has recommended granting amnesty to Resham Chaudhary, who is currently serving a life sentence for his involvement in the Tikapur incident. Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, said a meeting of the Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Sunday decided to recommend to the President the granting of amnesty to Chaudhary.

NEA preparing to distribute power from underground cable line

The IBN board meeting, held on Sunday, has decided to seek clarification from Power China regarding the lack of progress in accordance with the agreement and action plan outlined by the Nepali company, Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company (HIDCL).
