President Poudel to inaugurate Baglung Festival today

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel is scheduled to visit Baglung today to mark the inauguration of the Baglung Festival and participate in the Gandaki state-level tourism, agriculture, industrial, and business fair.

The event, which includes the seventh edition of the Baglung Festival, will showcase a diverse range of activities and exhibits.

President Poudel is slated to inaugurate the festival and embark on a visit to the Baglung Kalika temple, where he will offer prayers.

Additionally, he will explore the Shaligram Museum as part of the festivities.

After a hiatus of four years due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Baglung Festival is making a comeback.

The last edition took place in 2076 BS.

Naresh Kandel, President of the Baglung Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed optimism that the festival would play a pivotal role in revitalizing business, which has been sluggish since the pandemic.

With more than 120 stalls, the festival is set to run for 10 days, attracting an estimated seven lakh spectators.

The festival will feature a variety of events, including open relay double and live double song performances, open women’s and men’s volleyball competitions, an open hyms competition, and a youth entrepreneur conference.
