CIAA files corruption case against former Deputy Mayor and eight others of Ramdhuni Municipality, Sunsari



SUNSARI: A case of corruption has been filed against 9 people including the then Deputy Mayor of Sunsari Ramdhuni Municipality, Sabina Kumari Chaudhary.

Spokesman Bhola Dahal informed that the Commission for the Investigation for the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against 9 people in a special court in Kathmandu on Monday.

A case has been filed against Deputy Chief Chaudhary, the then Ward President Rajkumar Chaudhary of Ward No. 3, then Ward Member Tika Laxmi Shrestha and civil personnel (Fifth Level)Sunil Kumar Chaudhary.

Similarly, the then Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality Omkar Prasad Neupane, Accounts Officer Dwarika Prasad Dahal, Engineer Devendra Narayan Chaudhary and Sub-Engineer Harsha Lal Chaudhary and Jalpa Siddha Construction Services Pakli, Sunsari’s Nanukumar Niraula have been sued in the case.

According to Authority spokesperson Dahal, the construction of a black-paved road from Singia, the main road leading to Ramdhuni Temple, from Ramdhuni Gate in Ward No. 3 to Lalpur Village in Ward No. 4 was done. But there was an allegation that more than the actual work done there was paid by putting more in the meter book.

Spokesman Dahal said that during the investigation by the authority, it was revealed that false bills, Land Survey Record and project-completion reports were accepted and overpayments of 212,073 rupees were taken.

According to the Corruption Prevention Act, 2059, the amount has been seized and fined and imprisonment has been demanded.
