KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Nepal  has issued a pressing appeal to address ‘E’s deteriorating health condition during his sit-in protest at Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

After on-site monitoring led by NHRC commissioner Lily Thapa, the commission has expressed grave concern and called for immediate negotiations.

‘E’ and supporters demand alternatives for small street traders. ‘E’ sits from 12:00 pm to 5:00 am and stands the rest of the time.

‘E’ has severe health issues after eight days of protest, including swollen legs and open skin. He’s taken medication since October 8th, but the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s response has been lacking.

NHRC emphasized that ‘E’s demand relates to human rights, citing Constitution Article 17 (f) and Article 33. They urged swift action to safeguard ‘E’s life, support street traders, and explore alternative protest methods.

Tikaram Pokharel, NHRC spokesperson, called on all parties to act urgently.
