Prohibitory orders imposed in Biratnagar



BIRATNAGAR: Authorities have issued an indefinite prohibitory order in Biratnagar, the capital of Koshi State, from today morning.

Keeping in mind the possible agitation by the supporters of the Kirant-Limbuwan demonstrators against the naming of Koshi, the local administration has issued prohibitory orders in various areas of Biratnagar.

The District Administration Office Morang has issued an indefinite prohibitory order from 6 am today morning to avert anyway untoward circumstances.

According to Birendra Kumar Yadav, Chief District Officer of Morang, apart from public and vehicular movement, meetings, processions, gatherings, rallies, and sit-ins have been prohibited in restricted areas.

The provincial assembly meeting on March 1, 2023, had named Koshi Province.

Since then, demonstrations are being held in the provincial capital, Biratnagar demanding that the province be named “Kirant-Limbhuwan Province”.
