Rabi Lamichhane found guilty in citizenship case; loses posts of DPM, Home Minister and parliamentarian

In what can be termed as a historic decision, Nepal’s Supreme Court (SC) on Friday ruled that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s citizenship of Nepal was not according to the law. With this, Lamichhane has lost the post of the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister as well as the Member of the Parliament.

Home Minister Lamichhane submits resignation to PM Dahal

Rabi Lamichhane has resigned from the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. According to his Secretariat, Lamichhane reached Baluwatar on Friday evening and submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ after the decision of the Supreme Court to revoke the post.

As a non-citizen, I have nothing left to say: Rabi Lamichhane

Emerging out of the Ministry of Home Affairs after the Supreme Court (SC) revoked his Nepali citizenship, Rabi Lamichhane said he, as a non citizen, has nothing left to say. However, he said he would welcome the SC’s decision.
