Durga Prasai withdraws habeas corpus writ petition

KATHMANDU: On Sunday, Advocate Dr. Surendra Bhandari withdrew the habeas corpus writ petition filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on behalf of Durga Prasai.

This move comes after Prasai had lodged the writ petition on Friday, alleging unconstitutional house arrest by the government and asserting a violation of his fundamental human rights.

The scheduled hearing for the writ petition, initially set for today, is now void following the withdrawal of the petition by Prasai’s legal representative. The reasons behind the withdrawal were not immediately disclosed.
