SURKHET: Karnali Province Assembly Speaker Nanda Gurung has said that the press sector has an important role in the development and prosperity of the country.
At the Provincial Assembly Secretariat press meet here on Friday, Speaker Gurung said that press is also important for the development and strengthening of democracy.
Furthermore, there should be close relationship between journalists and the Parliament.
Stating that Karnali is lagging behind in terms of education and health, Gurung expressed the confidence that the media sector would work to hold all stakeholders accountable for the development of those sectors.
Provincial Assembly Secretary Jibraj Budhathoki lauded the positive role of media persons in the dissemination of parliamentary activities in the province.
