Police intensify probe into attempted attack on Rabi Lamichhane

POKHARA: The police have intensified their investigation into the attempted attack on Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), regarding the incident involving the hurling of corn cobs, citing it as an act of misconduct.

The incident occurred during an RSP event at Amarsingh Chowk in Pokhara last Saturday, where Lamichhane was targeted with corn cobs. The accused in this attempted assault, Santosh Ranabhat from Ward 8 of Rynaas Municipality in Lamjung, was promptly apprehended.

Mohan Bahadur Thapa, Chief of the Kaski District Police Office, disclosed that the investigation has been extended by an additional 10 days beyond the initial period set by the District Administration Office.

SP Thapa emphasized that the extension of the investigation is due to the disruption of public peace and security within a public gathering. Notably, Rabi had requested to abstain from pursuing charges in relation to the corn-cob pelting incident during the party event in Pokhara.
