DAO denies permission for Prasai’s Tinkune demonstration

KATHMANDU: As medical practitioner Durga Prasai announced to continue the “Rashtra Bachau Maha Abhiyan” campaign at Tinkune, Kathmandu, the District Admission Office (DAO) has stated that Prasai lacks the necessary permission for the demonstration.

Emphasizing the potential consequences, the DAO has warned that Prasai and his supporters will face legal actions if they attempt to stage demonstrations without the required authorization, particularly if their actions pose a threat to peace and security.

Despite Prasai’s inaugural demonstration at Balkhu on Thursday, where he declared the campaign’s continuation at Tinkune, the DAO maintains its stance. The DAO’s press statement suggests that Prasai’s intentions are questionable, leading to the denial of permission for demonstrations at Tinkune.

“Prasai is conducting the campaigns with ill intentions, so he has not been given the permission to hold demonstrations at Tinkune,” reads the press statement issued by the DAO.

The DAO’s firm stance raises concerns about the potential legal and security implications of proceeding without official consent, adding complexity to the ongoing campaign.
