By-election results indicate people’s declining interest in major parties: Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba raised grave concern over the results of the by-election and emphasized the need for the parties to undergo a “revamping” process to regain the trust and support of the people.

Addressing a meeting of the Parliament Party on Monday, NC President Deuba stressed the necessity for the party to enhance its performance and acknowledged that there was a lack of interest among the public in major political parties.

He also discussed with the party lawmakers the country’s current economic situation, which he said was alarming.

NC President Deuba, who is also the former Prime Minister, said the government should bring programs and budget that would connect with the people.
