One killed and 25 houses damaged due to earthquake



BAJURA: A woman has died after being hit by a stone that fell upon her following the earthquake that took place in Bajura on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Jamuna Rokaya of Gaumul Rural Municipality-2.

Rokaya had gone to collect green fodder for her cattle when a stone that fell from up the hill struck her.

She died on the spot, local resident Prem Bahadur Rokaya said.

Likewise, one person was injured in the earthquake. Ramdal Bohra of Gaumul Rural Municipality-1 was injured in the earthquake.

Meanwhile, 25 houses have been damaged in various places of the district due to the earthquake measuring 5.9 in the Richter Scale, which occurred at 2:43 pm today.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Surya Thapa, residential houses in Badimalika Municipality, Himali Rural Municipality and Gaumul Rural Municipality have been damaged due to the earthquake.

Following the earthquake, the telecommunication service in the district has been interrupted.
