Police employ jammer vehicle amidst demonstrations in Kathmandu disrupting mobile networks

KATHMANDU: The Valley Police Office utilized a jammer vehicle at Balkhu and Tinkune on Thursday, coinciding with separate demonstrations by CPN-UML-affiliated Yuva Sangh and Durga Prasai’s supporters in Kathmandu.

A jammer vehicle, equipped with electronic jamming technology, is designed to disrupt or block communication signals. Typically used by military and law enforcement for counter-terrorism and public event security, these vehicles interfere with various signals, including radio frequencies, cellular signals, and GPS signals.

The move raises concerns about potential interference with legitimate communication systems in the vicinity. While jammer vehicles play a crucial role in enhancing security, their use requires careful consideration to minimize unintended disruptions.
