Political parties agree to resolve Parliament impasse

KATHMANDU: In a breakthrough, political parties representing the Parliament have reached a consensus on two crucial points aimed at breaking the ongoing deadlock within the legislative body.

Leaders from the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Rastirya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party convened at the Prime Minister’s Office, Singha Durbar, to participate in the meeting.

An outcome of this gathering is the formulation of a two-point consensus draft, which holds immense promise for resolution.

The CPN-UML had been employing obstructionist tactics, preventing the convening of Parliament sessions.

Their key demand revolved around the establishment of a high-level commission tasked with investigating the 100-kilo gold smuggling case.

This contentious issue seems to have paved the way for the currently achieved understanding among the political stakeholders.
