Youths are the hope of nation: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the whole nation has its hope and trust on the youth.

Addressing the passing-out parade of the 17th Batch Senior Division Training conducted by the National Cadets Corps at Tudikhel here today, PM Dahal asserted that disciplined youths dedicated to the nation is the nation’s first need in the present situation.

“The hopes and dreams of not only your parents but those of the professors, relatives and the society as well are pinned on you. Therefore, you need to make your willpower stronger and develop the leadership acumen in youth for building the best society possible by following the moral conduct and discipline. The task of becoming an able citizen is equally important for understanding one’s duty to one’s society and nation and for fulfilling the responsibility accordingly,” the Prime Minister said.

The National Cadet Corps was founded in 2022 BS with the mission of developing the youths’ personality in accordance with the principle – ‘Discipline Alone is Main Foundation for National Service.’

Stating that the NCC training was not adequate in terms of its numbers in proportion to the national need, he said the government is serious regarding increasing the number of the participants of the training in the coming days. He expressed the commitment that the numbers of the trainees would be increased and the training’s quality also enhanced in the days to come.

The Prime Minister said that this program which is high on the government’s priority aims at producing disciplined, dignified, civilized citizens committed to the nation and respecting the State institutions as well as well-trained volunteer human resources that can be mobilized during times of disasters.

Reiterating that the NCC was established with the objective of addressing the nation’s needs by producing morally upright, capable and patriotic youth, he expressed the confidence that the NCC graduates will shoulder the leadership role with selfless motive of service when the nation demanded.

The PM stated that the NCC’s training provides not only knowledge on military skills and contemporary topics under the army garb but also the opportunity to understand each other’s sentiments and culture, customs, tradition and history under a single roof of NCC having come from varied geographical terrains, cultures, traditions and backgrounds. He said this opportunity helped instill added commitment to the feeling of national unity.

PM Dahal also expressed the government’s commitment to constantly remain active for the physical, mental, intellectual development of youth.

Stating that watching the march-past, skills and performances displayed by the NCC pass-outs reminded him of the happy moments of similar NCC training he took in the past, he said he has been receiving the energy of added commitment and sense of duty towards the country that the NCC’s training provided as per its goal while fulfilling his present responsibility of the Prime Minister.
