CIAA recovers expensive liquors and large sum of money from airport chief’s office

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has recovered a large amount of expensive liquor and a large sum of money in the office of the head of the domestic airport office of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu during a raid on Monday afternoon.

After receiving the information about financial transactions in the office of Internal Terminal Management Branch Chief Purna Prasad Chudal, the CIAA team reached there at around 12.30 pm.

According to CIAA sources, along with expensive liquors in the officer the police recovered eight lakh rupees Chudal’s room. The CIAA had reached his office following the information that Chudal had taken a bribe of one and a half lakh rupees from a travel agency.

The police have started investigation against Chudal after finding some mobile phones, red label, black label and other expensive liquors in his room.

The CIAA initiated investigation with the support of Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala.

It is still to be investigated whether the recovered cash is Chudal’s personal money or the one brought for the office.
