Former Prime Minister Madhav Nepal’s report accuses West of instigating Russian engagement in Ukraine conflict

KATHMANDU: Despite Nepal’s protests against Russian incursion, former Prime Minister and prominent leader of the ruling alliance, Madhav Kumar Nepal accused West of fueling Ukraine conflict.

In his 39-page political report presented to the CPN-Unified Socialist Party’s central committee meeting on Tuesday, Chairman Nepal delved into a ‘comprehensive analysis’ of both national and international contexts, laying the foundation for delineating the party’s stance and justifications for its political standpoint.

The political report elucidates how Western nations allegedly maneuvered Russia into the war by instrumentalizing Ukraine as a strategic pawn. This maneuver, the report suggests, aims to bolster the influence and number of NATO member states, ultimately augmenting Western powers’ strategic capacity.

“Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Western powers have reportedly subjected Russia to both indignity and isolation, coercing it into a confrontation with Ukraine,” the report stipulated.

The analysis within this political report by Madhav Nepal posits that these actions are not confined merely to Europe; rather, they have profound ramifications on the global stage.

The narrative expounded upon in the report contends that the provisioning of state-of-the-art weaponry to Ukraine, purportedly to safeguard its sovereignty, is a deliberate strategy aimed at protracting the conflict. This strategy, as outlined in the report, possesses repercussions that transcend the European theater, with far-reaching consequences on a global scale.

The report asserts, “The situation carries the potential to trigger a worldwide economic turmoil, hindering not only global tranquility and economic advancement but also precipitating crises such as food scarcity, skyrocketing prices, dwindling international trade, escalating fuel costs, and mounting unemployment.”
