Parliamentary Committee directs govt to withdraw facilities granted to specific individuals contrary to norms

KATHMANDU: The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives has issued a directive to the government, urging the swift withdrawal of security officers, drivers, and cooks assigned to certain individuals in violation of established norms.

This directive comes with a strict 15-day timeline for the government to comply.

During the committee’s meeting on Thursday, government officials were instructed to promptly recall these personnel and reassign them to their designated positions.

Furthermore, the committee has demanded the immediate return of government vehicles being utilized by officials in excess of their entitlements.

Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairman of the Committee, officially communicated these decisions taken during the committee meeting.

He emphasized the urgency of the government’s compliance, specifically the withdrawal of Private Security Officers (PSOs), drivers, and cooks who were provided in contravention of established standards.

In addition to these directives, the committee has also called for the effective implementation of the government’s decision to keep essential service offices operational even on public holidays.

This move is deemed necessary to ensure the efficient delivery of essential services to the public.
