Fake Bhutanese refugee scam: Police fail to submit investigation report

KATHMANDU: The police failed to submit the investigation report to the District Prosecutor’s Office Kathmandu on the fake Bhutanese refugee scam today.

The Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu was supposed to submit the report prepared following a two-month-long investigation on Sunday.

However, the police said that they did not submit the report.

The police is expected to submit the report by 10 am tomorrow (Monday).

SP Sitaram Rijal said that since the final file of the report was not prepared on Sunday, they would submit the report on Monday morning.

Police have arrested 16 people, including CPN-UML leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, his son Sandeep, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and his aide Narendra KC, former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal’s security expert Indrajit Rai, former Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey and former Nepali Congress MP Angtawa Sherpa in this case.

Similarly, police have also arrested Keshab Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, Tank Gurung Sagar Rai, Sandesh Sharma, Ram Sharan KC, Gobinda Chaudhary, Shamsher Miya and Bhutanese refugee leader Teknath Rijal.

Indrajit Rai’s son Niraj, and Badal’s son Prateek are, however, absconding.
