Parliamentary Hearing Committee approves nominees for Supreme Court justices



KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee granted approval on Wednesday for all six justices recommended for the Supreme Court (SC).

The Judicial Council had put forward the names of Saranga Subedi, Abdul Ajij Musalman, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, Sunil Pokharel, and Bal Krishna Dhala for the esteemed positions, and their nominations were endorsed during the committee meeting.

With this approval, these individuals are now poised to take on the role of justices at the Supreme Court, subject to the formalities of swearing in and adhering to the oath of office and secrecy.

According to constitutional provisions, the appointment of judges by the President requires the prior approval of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
