KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police is preparing to submit its investigation report regarding the Lalita Niwas land grab case in Baluwatar to the District Public Prosecutor’s office today.

Despite the allegations encompassing former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, the CIB is proceeding with the submission of the report without procuring their statements.

Given the inquiries into the immunity of the former Prime Ministers, Nepal and Bhattarai, the Supreme Court, on August 6, validated the decisions and actions of the Council of Ministers. Consequently, an inquiry was mandated to scrutinize those implicated in the implementation.

However, sources indicate that the CIB is now set to submit the report on Sunday, which is two days subsequent to the deadline outlined by the public prosecutor’s office.

The District Attorney’s Office had requisitioned the CIB to furnish the investigative dossier by last Friday.

In the extensive investigation carried out by the CIB, it has come to light that approximately 143 ropanis of government land at Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar were illicitly registered in the names of various individuals on five separate occasions spanning from 1992 to 2013.
