KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has granted the Revenue Investigation Department permission to hold the six individuals arrested for their alleged involvement in gold smuggling in custody for 10 days.
Among those detained is Jeyung Lyn, a Chinese citizen, who was arrested on Thursday.
The authorities will be able to detain all six suspects for the given duration. Jeyung, the Chinese national, was intercepted by the Immigration Department at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) while attempting to leave Nepal.
Subsequently, he was handed over to the Revenue Investigation Department for further action.
After successfully passing through the inspection at the TIA Customs Office, the Revenue Investigation Department managed to seize nearly one quintal of gold.
As of now, a total of six individuals, including one Chinese national, have been arrested on charges related to gold smuggling.
