Socialism cannot be acquired through political maneuvering, deception: Dr. Bhattarai

KATHMANDU: Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Samajwadi Party, has voiced skepticism regarding the establishment of the Samajwadi Morcha.

Bhattarai commented that socialism cannot be achieved through deceit or as a means to simply bargain for power.

Bhattarai stated, “Socialism is not a commodity that can be acquired through political maneuvering and deception.”

His remarks came just one day after the establishment of the Samajwadi Morcha (Socialist Front), which brings together four left-leaning political forces, namely the Maoist Center, Unified Socialist, Janata Samajwadi Party, and Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand “Biplav,” on Monday.

He said, “It represents an advanced stage of civilization that can only be achieved through the sustained collective efforts of individuals possessing heightened awareness and unwavering ethical principles, all guided by a noble ideology.”

Dr. Bhattarai voiced his suspicion that the formation of the Samajwadi Morcha (Socialist Front) was driven by a desire for power bargaining and strongly recommended against engaging in such tactics.

Bhattarai said, “The so-called Samajwadi Front should not be used as a weapon of bargain with internal and external forces for private power interests,” Bhattarai said.

Taking to social media on Tuesday, he cautioned, “The so-called Samajwadi Front should not be wielded as a tool for leveraging personal power interests through negotiations with both internal and external forces.”
