KATHMANDU: A bus transporting students on an educational tour encountered an accident at Rong rural municipality-3, Kolbung, while returning from Kanyam in Ilam on Sunday.
The bus, originating from Janakpur, Dhanusha, en route to Ilam, met with an accident this afternoon.
According to the District Police Office in Ilam, the Na 6 Kha 8434 bus plunged approximately 300 meters off the Mechi highway.
Initial reports indicate that there were 37 individuals on board. 36 passengers have been rescued and transported to Birtamod for medical attention. Efforts are underway to evacuate a student who was trapped under the bus.
Police sources mention that some of the injured students are in critical condition.
