Parliamentary Committee initiates investigation over AIG Gyawali’s birth date dispute

KATHMANDU: The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives has initiated an inquiry into the birth date of AIG Shyam Lal Gyawali by requesting specific details from the Home Ministry.

Committee member Ram Hari Khatiwada mentioned, “We’ve received complaints regarding discrepancies in his date of birth, prompting us to seek clarification from the Home Ministry. Our aim is to address these concerns impartially.”

Despite a complaint reaching the Supreme Court about AIG Gyawali’s birth date, the Court declined to register the petition.

Khatiwada highlighted the Committee’s consideration of establishing a sub-committee to investigate similar issues, citing frequent complaints regarding date discrepancies, especially within the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, Nepal Army, and Civil Servants.
