PM Dahal urges TU to strengthen quality with determination

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized the imperative for Tribhuvan University (TU) to foster determination and resilience to overcome the challenges brought forth by 21st-century globalization.

Encouraging TU to elevate its quality standards to meet the demands of the globalized world, he addressed the 49th Convocation Ceremony held at Dasharath Stadium.

During his address as the University Chancellor, PM Dahal highlighted the pressing need to acknowledge the intensified pressures from the global market and urged TU to bridge the gap in producing globally competitive human resources. He raised concerns about the dwindling trust in the institution and questioned the limited impact of TU academicians’ roles.

Dahal pinpointed the absence of a consistent academic calendar and frequent disruptions in teaching-learning processes as significant concerns, holding those responsible accountable for the setbacks.

Advocating for depoliticized and autonomous academic institutions, he cautioned against personal agendas overshadowing TU’s primary objectives. Stressing on accessible quality education for every citizen, he urged the University’s leadership to ensure a high standard of education, assuring governmental support in this pursuit.

Expressing hope that TU graduates would contribute positively to society, Dahal wished them success and underscored the importance of integrity and responsibility in their endeavors.

Touching upon economic improvements, he acknowledged the strides made in the past year while highlighting the need for more collective support, especially from the intellectual youth, to further the government’s efforts for progress.
