Prime Minister Dahal pledges strategic tourism development in Everest region

KALAPATTHAR, SOLUKHUMBU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal emphasized the pivotal role of the Khumbu region in propelling Nepal’s tourism sector, labeling the Everest region as an inexhaustible catalyst for tourism development.

During his visit to Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality, he outlined plans for a methodical approach to enhancing tourism in Khumbu while prioritizing safety and cleanliness measures for Mount Everest.

Arriving in Kalapatthar on Saturday morning, Prime Minister Dahal pledged a commitment to establish structured protocols ensuring the safety and sanitation of Mount Everest.

“As Prime Minister, I assure you that following this program in this region, upon my return to Kathmandu, discussions will ensue regarding a comprehensive strategy for Khumbu’s development and the implementation of measures to safeguard Mt. Everest,” stated Prime Minister Dahal.

Highlighting the region’s pivotal role in Nepal’s global reputation within the tourism sector, Dahal underscored Mount Everest as an inexhaustible resource for Nepal’s tourism growth.

During the program, Mayor Mingma Chhiri Sherpa of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality presented a three-point memorandum to Prime Minister Dahal.

The memorandum outlined plans to collaborate with the provincial government to construct a road connecting the municipality center, facilitating traffic flow in the Khumbu region.

Additionally, local residents urged for budget allocations within the national pride project for the upgrading of the Chatara to Lukla road, a vital link to the Everest region.
