Women’s T20 Series: Nepal batting against Japan

KATHMANDU: In a match of the four-national women’s T20 series taking place in Hong Kong, Nepal is currently at the crease, battling against Japan in the crucial last encounter of the group stage.

Nepal faced setbacks in the initial stages, succumbing to defeats in both the opening matches.

The first saw a 27-run loss to Tanzania on Wednesday, followed by a nine-wicket defeat against Hong Kong on Thursday.

Japan, too, faced similar challenges, recording losses in two group-stage matches.

Consequently, both Nepal and Japan find themselves out of contention for the series title.

This T20 series features Nepal, Tanzania, and Japan alongside host Hong Kong.

Despite being out of title contention, these teams continue to showcase their skills and determination in the remaining matches.

Notably, in the ICC rankings, Tanzania holds the 19th position, Nepal follows closely at 21st, Hong Kong stands at 22nd, and Japan is positioned 51st.

The ongoing match is poised to be a competitive encounter as Nepal looks to salvage pride and end the series on a positive note, while Japan aims to conclude with a victory despite being out of contention for the title.

In the series finale, the focus shifts to the battle between Tanzania and Hong Kong, who are set to clash for the coveted title.
