BIRATNAGAR: In a significant political development, Chief Minister of Koshi Province Kedar Karki garnered a vote of confidence today, solidifying his position in the provincial leadership.

A resounding show of support was witnessed, as a total of 86 lawmakers cast their votes in favor of Chief Minister Karki.

Out of the total of 91 lawmakers present in Wednesday’s voting, 5 lawmakers cast their votes against Chief Minister Karki.

Notably, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chose to abstain from participating in the vote of confidence motion.

This event unfolded after Chief Minister Karki presented a proposal in the provincial assembly meeting held on Wednesday, requesting a vote of confidence.

In the electoral proceedings, lawmakers from various political affiliations, including the Maoist Centre, Nepali Congress, Unified Socialist Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party, came together to back Chief Minister Karki, highlighting a unified show of support for his leadership.

Article 168 (4) states that an individual person appointed the Chief Minister should take a vote of confidence from the Province Assembly within 30 days of the appointment.

Koshi Province Chief Parshuram Khapung had appointed Karki as the Chief Minister on October 14.
