Red Panda trophy competition in Rasuwa



RASUWA: A volleyball championship has been organized here to raise public awareness on the preservation of Red Panda, a rare wildlife species.

The volleyball championship has been organized as part of the 28th wildlife weekly and 11th Red Panda trophy tournament.

Bagmati province assembly member Prabhat Tamang on Monday opened the four-day volleyball championship in Dhunche.

According to the Langtang National Park Office, Rasuwa, the host, 10 groups of the district are taking part in the championship.

The wildlife weekly is being celebrated here with the main slogan ‘coordination, collaboration and co-existence; our shared responsibility for wildlife preservation’.

Also on the occasion, Chief Conservation Officer Pramod Bhattarai shared that the national park has placed high priority on preserving over 38 classified rare wildlife and bird species, including Red Panda, musk deer, snow leopard, boar, black bear and monkey.

Local organizations have also lent support in the national park’s bid for conserving extinct wildlife and birds.
