Natural disaster claims 92 human lives this monsoon



KATHMANDU: Ninety-two people lost their lives in natural disaster-related incidents across the country during monsoon this year.

Similarly, 30 people have gone missing, and 168 sustained injuries in such incidents. Spokesperson of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Dhruba Khadka, said the highest incidents of landslide occurred during this monsoon.

In a press meet organized by the Authority at Singha Durbar today, he shared that 459 incidents of landslide took place in this monsoon season while 142 incidents of flooding, 168 of heavy rainfall, and 113 incidents of lightning were reported.

This year’s monsoon had receded from Nepal on October 15 marking a delay of 13 days and the monsoon lasted in the country for 124 days. Although less rainfall had taken place in the country this year, landslides and flood following heavy rainfall took place in many places causing heavy destruction.
