District Public Prosecutor’s Office filing case on 61 kg gold smuggling today

KATHMANDU: The District Public Prosecutor’s Office is set to file a case at the Kathmandu District Court today, in connection with the 61 kg gold smuggling case recently seized by the Department of Revenue Investigation.

The District Public Prosecutor’s Office is initiating the case four days after receiving the investigation report from the CIB of the Nepal Police.

The CIB has recommended that the public prosecutor’s office file a case against 29 individuals, comprising 25 who have been arrested and four who remain at large.

In total, 32 individuals, including 8 Chinese nationals, are currently in custody in relation to this case. The CIB has advised against prosecuting seven of them.
